Purple Star Families’s mission is to save lives and keep families together. We support the families of active duty Servicemembers preparing for separation from service and Veterans in transition by providing the resources they need to navigate the their loved one’s homecoming and reintegration back to civilian life

Family Peer Advisors
Purple Star Family Peer Advisors act as immediate advocates and front-line referral support (a form of triage) to assist each Family Member in the use of PSVF’s tools, identifying necessary resources and further opportunities for assistance, and by connecting them to long-term mentors and mentoring organizations.

Veteran & Family Member-Centered Research & Advocacy
Research that helps to identify evidence-based best practices in several critical areas including Veteran combat-related stress and post traumatic injuries, preparing Veterans and family members for homecoming and re-integration and the military-civilian transition, supporting the mental health care of active duty Service Members and Veterans. Also to include research concerning methods of access to assistance before, during, and after separation from military service with attention to suicide prevention.
The Purple Star Families program is in its final stages of development, and will offer comprehensive resources, links to programs and services, and offer a communication and community hub for family members of Veterans in transition from military to civilian life.
