Families & Friends of the Fallen
Purple Star Veterans and Families seeks to honor and memorialize those lost to suicide and other means (such as vehicular accidents, adrenaline-seeking behavior and drugs and alcohol) while providing connective fellowship and support to their families and friends
How We Honor & Support
As an organization whose board and staff have been intimately touched by the loss of loved ones to suicide and other means, Purple Star Veterans and Families seeks to honor and memorialize those lost while providing connective fellowship and support to their families:
- Our online Memorial Wall provides a place where both family and friends can memorialize their lost loved ones by telling their story.
- Additionally, Purple Star has created the first National Registry for Families of the Fallen. The purpose of the registry is to create a united voice for the families of the fallen, especially where suicide prevention efforts pertaining to active duty Service Members preparing for separation from service and Veterans are concerned. The Registry is open to the next of kin of active duty Service Members and Veterans who have died from suicide. The collection of information is part of an effort to unite families in being heard and counted, which is especially important in the arenas of lawmaking and preventative research efforts. As part of registering, the next of kin of the fallen are eligible to receive a special memorial pin.
- Purple Star also invites the immediate and extended family members and friends of lost loved ones to request a Flags to Families and Friends of the Fallen packet that includes a memorial banner and decal.
